The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City has been a pillar in youth development in our community for the past 45 years. Their record of accomplishment providing a safe and welcoming place for children and teens and preparing them to grow into healthy, productive adults has been remarkable.

Today the Club serves over 1,900 youth a year …and it’s at capacity. In addition, programs for children and teens must be run from the same building. This means teens can’t access the Club until after 6pm when the children’s program ends. This exposes vulnerable youth to many risks and has limited the specialized programs that can be offered.

But a new day is dawning. With the help of the City of Atlantic City, the Boys & Girls Club was able to secure a new building adjacent to their existing facility. Our planned transformation includes separate facilities for younger members making The Club accessible to teens at 3pm each day. Plans also include an aggressive expansion of specialized workforce and college readiness programs. Today, I am asking for your help in raising $2 million to create the Center for Economic Youth Development and College Readiness to transform the lives of Atlantic City’s youth.

On the following pages we’ve shared more information about the need, the children we serve, and our plans to help ensure that this generation has the best opportunity to succeed.

I am honored to be Chair of this Transform Campaign and I hope that you can join us in this legacy project as we build a path of economic mobility for the youth of our City and set the foundation for a stronger workforce in our community.

In December 2017, the City of Atlantic City provided the Boys & Girls Club with a 30-year lease for the Mayor James Usry building located at 1010 Drexel Avenue, directly behind our current building at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.

The James Usry building will allow the organization to transfer the younger members to a building that is already equipped and designed for pre-school and elementary school-aged children.

With funding from our TRANSFORM CAMPAIGN we will create a state-ofthe-art Youth Development Campus by transforming our existing building at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue into the Center for Youth Economic Development and College Readiness.

Money raised will also create an endowment to fund new specialized career programs for five years and will allow us to serve an additional 100 youth per day and 400 new members per year.

The Center for Youth Economic Development and College Readiness will offer specialized spaces, equipment and programs to introduce teens to career opportunities in three growth industries:

Our new space will have state-of-the-art equipment to implement simulation programs that will provide teens with industry related skills.

The club renovation will include a teaching kitchen, a health simulation room and a fabrication lab focused on technology development.

Our transformed facility will allow us to expand our academic enrichment opportunities including specialized STEM classes, high school tutoring in Math and Literacy, SAT preparation and college access program.

The Transform Campaign will also fund internships and scholarships that are so important in helping deserving members achieve their dreams.

We will endeavor to become the premier youth development organization on the East coast by implementing a model that serves more children, in an environment that fosters academic achievement, college and job readiness, self-esteem and healthy life skills.

Through our commemorative brick program, the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City has created a way to honor and inspire community engagement in three easy steps. Each $1,000 commemorative brick will be engraved with your family or business name to support the Boys & Girls Club. Or you can choose to display a message honoring a person who touched your life or helped our community in a special way. These bricks will be part of the pathway into the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City and will help TRANSFORM a place for youth to become their best selves. This permanent pathway into the building will become a lasting legacy in the Atlantic City community.
