Dear Friends and Colleagues,

For many years I have had the opportunity of being involved in the Atlantic City community, working with great organizations and dedicated leaders helping the community thrive.

Today I am honored to be leading, along with Michael Azeez, the Transform Campaign for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. One of the most important investments we can make is in our youth. Ensuring they have the necessary skills to gain viable employment or a chance for post-secondary education is not only vital to their future but also to the future of Atlantic City!

For the past 45 years, the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City has provided resources for the development of young people, from all backgrounds, to realize their full potential. Boys and Girls Club continues to provide a welcoming positive environment in which kids and teens have fun, participate in life-changing programs, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults. To continue that mission, we are proud to be a part of this new movement to build a path of economic mobility for the youth in our city. A new project, to continue this legacy of creating opportunities to help more young people achieve great futures.

We plan to transform the Boys and Girls Club Pennsylvania Avenue building into a “state of the art” Teen Center. Housed within the physically transformed building will be a team of educators, mentors, and volunteers skilled in the fields of technology, hospitality, health, and entrepreneurship. There will also be a college readiness program designed to broaden educational experiences and aid young adults in accessing institutions of higher learning.

The children are the future. Let us invest today for a better tomorrow. Join us in this legacy project as we build the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

Sincerely,
Michael & Cookie

THE OPPORTUNITY

In December 2017, the City of Atlantic City provided the Boys & Girls Club with a 30-year lease for the Mayor James Usry building located at 1010 Drexel Avenue, directly behind our current building at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.

The James Usry building will allow the organization to transfer the younger members to a building that is already equipped and designed for pre-school and elementary school-aged children.

With funding from our TRANSFORM CAMPAIGN we will create a state-ofthe-art Youth Development Campus by transforming our existing building at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue into the Center for Youth Economic Development and College Readiness.

Money raised will also create an endowment to fund new specialized career programs for five years and will allow us to serve an additional 100 youth per day and 400 new members per year.

WE WANT TO PROVIDE EVERY CHILD WITH A
PLAN FOR COLLEGE OR A CAREER.

THE VISION

The Center for Youth Economic Development and College Readiness will offer specialized spaces, equipment and programs to introduce teens to career opportunities in three growth industries:

Hospitality

Health

Technology

Our new space will have state-of-the-art equipment to implement simulation programs that will provide teens with industry related skills.

The club renovation will include a teaching kitchen, a health simulation room and a fabrication lab focused on technology development.

TAKE MORE KIDS TO COLLEGE

Our transformed facility will allow us to expand our academic enrichment opportunities including specialized STEM classes, high school tutoring in Math and Literacy, SAT preparation and college access program.

The Transform Campaign will also fund internships and scholarships that are so important in helping deserving members achieve their dreams.

We will endeavor to become the premier youth development organization on the East coast by implementing a model that serves more children, in an environment that fosters academic achievement, college and job readiness, self-esteem and healthy life skills.
