Recreation Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Recreation in coordinating all Sports, Fitness & Recreation programs, and leagues within a Licensed After School Program (2 sites) and our Teen Center. The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the Recreation Director by helping to manage, supervise and coach Club leagues within the Boys and Girls Club Arena. The Recreation Coordinator will assist with daily duties, scheduling, coordinating members, sign-ups/ rosters. Additionally, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible coordinating with the Director and assisting with the management and implementation of Sports & Recreation outreach that support and sustain BGCAC community programs, and Citywide recreation collaboration. The Recreation Coordinator is enthusiastic about providing our community with meaningful sports and recreation activities that ensure a healthy lifestyle for Club youth.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES RECREATIONResponsible for meeting the ADA, membership and other youth goals for the Sports and Recreation Program.Oversees, implements, and coordinates current and new sports programs and a variety of weekly scheduled recreational activities for the youth.Directs the summer camp programming to include the coordination, implementation, and supervision of the camp.All additional summer and school year recreation programming as assigned by Recreation Director.

REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand, lift tools, equipment, supplies, as needed. Experience with precision measuring instruments and able to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches as needed. Required to drive a motor vehicle. MENTAL DEMANDS: Proven maintenance experience with the ability to analyze problems. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to follow repair manuals, catalogs and take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts. COMMUNICATION: Excellent written and clear verbal communicator internally and externally. Strong organizational management skills with professional presentation, great attitude, and an eye for detail. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work in a normal Club environment which can vary if necessary. It requires transportation between various places. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: COLLEGE DEGREE PREFERRED- AT LEAST High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Related degree from a technical college or 3-5 years equivalent experience. Unit Director

Responsible for the programmatic and operational execution of the assigned unit or club.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish Unit or Branch programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development. Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Unit or Branch overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives, member needs and interests. Compile and analyze regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance. Effectively manage all operational grants and its requirements for reporting and outcomes. Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of the unit performance with grants, BGCA and the organization strategic plan. Implement and comply with the internal processes established by the organization. Assume a leadership role in the community service. Establish relationships with other nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies based on the needs of the community. Effectively administer the budget for the unit. Assure daily operations complies with the requirements for a licensed Afterschool Youth Development facility. Have knowledge to analysis data regarding youth participation, youth, and community outcomes. Effectively plan, organize, direct, and lead the operations of the Club. Implement effective leadership style that promotes a healthy working environment. Supervise effectively assigned personnel - Supervision Responsibilities: includes recruitment and training of personnel, plan, assign and direct projects. Performance evaluation of assigned staff; recognition and disciplinary action, problem solution and management of complaints.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to manage problems with concrete variables, collect data and valid conclusions. Ability to read reports and apply concepts. COMMUNICATION: Excellent written and verbal language skills that would aloud clear communication internally and externally. Bilingual prefer Spanish/English. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: BA in Business Administration, Education, Social Services or Recreation from an accredited college or 3 years equivalent experience.

Membership & Outcomes Coordinator- Teen Center

Responsible for the data collection and assessment of club, members, and programs. Essential tasks & responsibilitiesComplete all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports required by supervisor. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, and participation.Ensure the front desk area is well decorated for welcoming members, parents and visitors.Oversees membership tracking system, PARS, and membership processes.Communicates and distributes promotional and recruitment information in the community.Supports the Site Director in the analysis on the effectiveness of the Club.Responsible for visiting the schools at least once a semester to establish collaborative partnership for recruitment efforts and academic support for members.Assist the Site Director in managing the compliance with grants.Completes internal analysis of Club outcomes and reports deficiencies to supervisor in a timely manner.Implement and comply with the internal processes established by the organization.Maintains the membership system, and keeps it updated with accurate information.Manage effectively, behaviors that are aligned with the club, grant compliance and health & safety protocols.Assure that the daily operation complies with the requirements for a licensed Childcare Afterschool facility.Completes any other task as assigned by supervisor

Basketball Coach

General description of the position: The Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Director of Recreation in coordinating the Basketball Program(s) and leagues within a Licensed After School Program (2 sites) and our Teen Center. The Basketball Coach will be responsible for providing support to the Recreation Director by helping to manage, supervise and coach Club Basketball leagues within the Boys and Girls Club Arena. Additionally, the individual is responsible coordinating with the Director and assisting with the management and implementation of Sports & Recreation outreach that support and sustain BGCAC community programs, and Citywide recreation collaboration. The Basketball Coach passionate about providing our community with meaningful sports and recreation activities that ensure a healthy lifestyle for Club youth.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities- Plan and conduct basketball practices focusing on skill development, teamwork, and strategy suitable for different age groups and skill levels. Teach fundamental basketball techniques including dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and game tactics. Organize and supervise team activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants. Motivate and encourage players to cultivate a love for the game, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy competition. Serve as a positive role model, fostering a supportive and respectful atmosphere among players and team members. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and club staff regarding practice schedules, game updates, and player progress.
Qualifications- Previous experience playing on varsity teams at least 4+ years and/or coaching basketball is preferred. Passion for working with youth and the ability to mentor and inspire young athletes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. Ability to pass a background check and adhere to club policies and procedures.

Program Assistant

Responsible for providing services to support BGCAC five core program areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership Development and Sports, Fitness and Recreation for children 6-18 years old across all three Club locations. During the academic school year (September through June) each Club operates as an after-school program; Program Assistants are scheduled from 1:30pm-6:30pm. If a Program Assistant chooses to opt-in for Summer Camp/Sessions, they are scheduled for shifts which increase to 35-40 hours per week from 8am-4:30pm.
Hourly Rate: $16.00, 25 hours a week

Youth Development Professional

Responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating youth activities that support BGCAC five core program areas; The Arts, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership Development and Sports, Fitness and Recreation for youth 13-18 yrs old. M-F, Part-time after school hours, $16/hr, 22.5 hours a week. 2:30pm-7pm.
Hourly Rate: $16.00, 25 hours a week
